Service is an important expression of a growing Christian faith. The following list suggests multiple opportunities where you might be led to serve as part of Grace Baptist Church.
Because there are many ways to serve the Lord, this list is not meant to limit, but simply provide information on existing ministry teams and needs.
WAYS TO SERVE IN THE CHURCH
Thinking of You Ministry Team This team ministers to shut-ins and medical shut-ins through regular visits, cards in the mail, and telephone calls.
Hospital Ministry Team This team ministers to people in the hospital through visits and phone calls.
Worship Ministry Team The worship ministry team serves weekly by singing in the Worship Choir, or by playing an instrument in the worship service. Other opportunities throughout the year include drama, giving testimony, or assisting with behind-the-scenes needs for musicals and productions.
Worship Technology Ministry Team The worship technology team serves during worship services by operating the sound system, video projection, lighting, and audio recording for the service. Other opportunities for service include videography for special events, website design/maintenance, and graphic design.
Greeter/Usher Ministry Team The greeter/usher ministry team provides a welcoming first impression and atmosphere for visitors and church members. Greeters and ushers are given the responsibility of tending to specific details of each service so that it is conducted in an orderly fashion.
Major Life Events Ministry This team will minister to people who are experiencing major life events. These events could include the birth of a child, death of a loved one, extended sickness, or any other major life event. The team will proactively prepare to minister to the immediate needs when the event occurs until the appropriate Sunday School class takes over the ministry to the individual or family.
Hospitality Team The hospitality team will serve during church-wide fellowship/special events. This team will be organized to serve by setting up, and decorating during fellowship meals as well as keep the two kitchens in good order by organizing and maintaining them on a regular basis. This team will also be responsible to keep the appropriate consumable paper products stocked through inventory and purchasing.
Testimony Team The purpose of this team is to meet with people who have put their faith in Christ and help them write out their testimony.
WAYS TO SERVE IN THE COMMUNITY
Helps Ministry Team This team will work to meet the needs of people inside and outside of the church. This team will lead the church to demonstrate the love of God by meeting the needs of members and non-members as the Lord provides opportunities and resources.
Food Pantry Ministry Ministry participants assist in acquiring and distributing food to needy families.
Benevolence Ministry Ministry participants work to share the gospel by meeting peoples’ physical and economic needs.
Lantern Clinic Ministry This team shares the gospel with the patients at the Lantern Clinic in Pearl. They reach out to the families who are not churched and invite them to Grace.
WAYS TO SERVE IN THE WORLD
Missions Team The purpose of this team is to encourage every member of the church to support missions. A person does not have to go on a trip to be involved in missions. Almost every trip requires many hours of preparation before the trip. If a person has a heart for missions but is not able to go on the trip they can still have an active role on the teams.
NEW MINISTRY OPPORTUNITIES
The following ministry teams are new opportunities for serving in the church and community and will be developed based on the interest in each ministry.
Expectant Mothers Ministry Team This team is made up of ladies who will pray with and for an expectant mother and baby. The team will then be a part of organizing a baby shower with financial assistance from the church. Team members will continue to pray for mother and baby until the time the baby is dedicated.
Spiritual Gifts Team The purpose of this team is to provide help and resources to Christians in identifying their God-given spiritual gifts and how God has equipped them to minister in the church and in daily life.
Senior Adult Fellowship Team This team’s purpose is to organize and provide various forms of ministry to senior adults in our congregation and community.
Young Adult Fellowship Team This team’s purpose is to organize and provide various forms of ministry to young adults in our congregation and community.
