Proposal from Stewardship Committee:

As part of the government’s recently passed CARES Act, the Small Business Administration has created the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), which authorizes forgivable loans to small businesses to pay their employees during the COVID-19 crisis.

The Stewardship Committee recommends the church vote to enter into an agreement with Bank of Yazoo, our current banking institution, for a PPP loan that would cover eight weeks of expenses.  Expenses include payroll costs for church staff, interest payments on our building loan, and utility costs.

As long as we maintain our current compensation levels and don’t make cuts to salaries, it is our understanding that this loan will be forgiven, and we are not required to pay back any portion.
